While flying over the gulf seeing the fire ball BP was using to burn off some of the oil from the spill, I thought about the '90s hero Captain Planet. He was around for a few years, but never really got any respect because of his weakness to garbage. Sure, besides Swamp Thing, no environmental heroes get respect, but Captain Planet has always been a focus of ridicule. He wore a mid-drift, a long, green mullet and usually needed to be saved by children sterotypes from around the world. With little to no respect directed his way, I see Captain Planet turning against humanity, and what better way to start than with an unthinkable catastrophe like the BP oil spill.
